![]() | BOB CARPENTER is a captain and 21-year veteran of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and has been in the fire service for 29 years. He previously worked for a combination department as well as a served as a volunteer. He assisted in the development and presentation of the Miami Dade Officer Development Program (ODP) and is an ODP Drill Week lead instructor. He served as officer in charge of the Recruit Training Bureau and is currently Miami Dade’s North Operations District training officer. |
![]() | THOMAS DUNNE is a deputy chief and 28-year veteran of the Fire Department of New York. He has been the incident commander at hundreds of fires in residential, commercial, and high-rise buildings in Mid-Manhattan and the Bronx. He has written numerous articles for Fire Engineering and is a regular contributor to the magazine’s Roundtable column. He is an instructor with the National Fire Academy and has lectured at FDIC and other major conferences. A Fordham University graduate, he writes and lectures on a variety of fire service topics. |
![]() | BILL GUSTIN, a 37-year veteran of the fire service, is a captain with Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue and lead instructor in his department’s officer training program. He began his fire service career in the Chicago area and teaches fire training programs in Florida and other states. He is a marine firefighting instructor and has taught fire tactics to ship crews and firefighters in Caribbean countries. He also teaches forcible entry tactics to fire departments and SWAT teams of local and federal law enforcement agencies. He is an editorial advisory board member of Fire Engineering and FDIC. |
![]() | TODD HARMS is assistant chief of operations with the Phoenix (AZ) Fire Department and a 29-year fire service veteran. He began his careeras a firefighter/paramedic with the Peotone (IL) Fire Protection District. In August/September 2005, as the deputy chief in charge of special operations, he responded with Arizona Task Force One (AZTF-1) to the Gulf Coast region following hurricanes Rita and Katrina. He has a bachelor’s degree in fire service management is an adjunct instructor at Phoenix College in the fire science program. |
![]() | STEVE KRAFT is a 21-year veteran of and deputy chief with the Richmond Hill (Ontario, Canada) Fire Department. He has completed the certificate in fire service leadership course though Dalhousie University, is a graduate of the fire protection technologist course through the Ontario Fire College, is a certified Community Emergency Management Coordinator, and is currently completing his diploma in public administration from the University of Western Ontario. He has written articles for Fire Engineering and contributed to a monthly column in Fire Fighting in Canada. He has delivered workshops on Leadership and Team Building at FDIC and speaks to fire departments across Ontario. |

M.S, PA-C, EFO, FACC, has been a member of the fire service since 1974, beginning as a firefighter/paramedic and retiring in 2007 as the deputy chief with Eastside Fire & Rescue (Issaquah, WA) and chief of the City of Sammamish (WA). He is the vice president of M2 Consulting Group, Inc., and a practicing attorney, whose focus is employment practices liability, training officer liability, fire district law, employment policy and procedures, internal investigations, and consulting on risk management for private companies and the fire service. |
![]() | DAVE WALSH is a 38-year veteran of the fire service; he has served 27 years in the career service. He is the chairperson for the fire science program at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY, and a New York State fire instructor and an emergency management office instructor. He has B.S. degrees in fire science and business administration. |
